From the olive tree to the bottle: the entire supply chain under control!
Società Agricola Trevi Il Frantoio has 59 olive growering members. It was established in Trevi in the Umbria Region in the 1960s, but its real growth happened in 1985. From the beginning the company has paid extremely close attention to traditional farming, as the producer of very high-quality extra-virgin olive oil and as a business specialising in a continual search for the most esteemed traditional, Umbrian products.
The olive groves wind their way through approximately 250 hectares in the Municipalities of Trevi, Foligno and Campello sul Clitunno, in the heart of Umbria and of the Umbria Colli Assisi – Spoleto Protected Denomination of Origin growing area.
The trees grow in very rocky, calcareous and humus-poor soil at an altitude of 300-600 metres above sea level, which has a cold climate that does not allow for the reproduction of the olive fruit fly.
Our olive groves include the Moraiolo (85%), Frantoio (10%), and Leccino (5%) cultivars.
On 30 October 2009, the first solar energy system was launched in Umbria, the largest in Italy for an oil mill producing extra-virgin olive oil. 90 kw are generated by polycrystalline solar panels that can supply 100% of the entire electric needs of the production cycle.
This initiative is an act of environmental responsibility that ensures the olive oil production industry can continue to work in harmony with nature!
In 1994, it became the first oil mill in the world to receive the UNI EN ISO 9002 certification, which has been renewed and readjusted to the current UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 standards.
During the 1998-1999 olive oil season, it was the first in Umbria to receive the PDO COLLI ASSISI – SPOLETO Certificate of Conformity.
Since the 2006/2007 olive oil season it has abided by the UNAPROL supply chain traceability system, and it has the UNI EN ISO 22005:08 TRACEABILITY CERTIFICATION.
In 2022 it decided to formalize the practices it has always implemented in production, obtaining organic certification.
The choice of safeguarding the environment, our land and its biodiversity, which has always been present in business ethics of company, is now certified, as a guarantee for all those who do not (yet) have the opportunity to see our reality directly with your own eyes.
The soil and climate of our land have always allowed us to use only natural substances in our production and cultivation. The extra virgin oil itself is a mechanical process, a “fruit juice” obtained by pressing the olives.
Now our commitment to responsibly manage the environment to ensure a sustainable and safer future for our children is also certified.
